How do we do it?
At the moment, we carry out the project by fundraising and internal donations.
Firstly, anyone can help by taking part in the Sponsorship Programme! It allows individual members or groups of the ISD community to financially support a MSSS student, who otherwise would not have the chance to continue their education. For more information, please click here.
"Tanzania Night" takes place every year, which is an event in which students, teachers, parents, from and outside of the ISD community share their talents. We have had the opportunity to invite guests from Tanzania throughout the years, who have made appearances during the night, followed by music, dancing, and other various forms of entertainment. One of our main sources of fundraising is working at the ISD British Fields Snack Bar on weekends. We, the students who participate in the project, sell coffee, cheese toasties, and other beverages to parents and players at these soccer fields during games. The International School of Düsseldorf's annual International Fest gives us the opportunity to sell crafts from Tanzania as well.
This year, we have expanded and also provide snacks and refreshments at school Drama Productions, Poetry Reading Evenings, and the After School Activities Night. Another fundraising project we have started this year, is organizing a Middle School Sleepover, not only is it a lot of fun for the kids, they know that they are doing it for a good cause!
All the money earned goes towards the project.
Yearly, we carry out a presentation for the Walkathon Funds Committee, who play a large role in the donations we receive. These investments aid us in providing medicine, toiletries, school supplies, scholarships, etc. for our fellow friends in Tanzania. We also sponsor an overnight Safari for the students at MSSS (the students from ISD pay for this themselves; it is not funded by Project Tanzania). This trip gives the kids from Monduli an opportunity to visit their country's own national parks, and understand why people visit. It is an unforgettable experience, and raises awareness about the importance of the conservation of wildlife.
